Sorry it's taken so long for me to upload my final piece from my exhibition - but here it is! I used water colours for the wings, acrylic for the main body and then ink fine liner for the water and fish - I wanted your eye to be drawn to the bird...
Hey, this is great! Just a tip: I think your eye would be more drawn to the bird if you were to add some lines on the bird itself, because at the moment the fish in his mouth immediately catches my eye because of its stark contrasts of black and white (and very crisp line work). The bird then ends up being secondary, almost as if he was the background. That said, this is an excellent painting and it doesn't entirely matter what the focal point is, it is still successful!
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment! I do see what you mean. I think I wanted it more to be about realism vs. simple line drawing almost like a cartoon... So that there should be a harsh contrast between the two. But I get that the black and white fish does draw a lot of attention... A dilemma! haha Thanks anyway and I'm glad you liked it!
The way you painted is very interesting, I like how only the bird is coloured, none of the water or the fish, it is very eye catching and pretty
Adore, love, adore and love. This is cool!
My eye is drawn to the bird!
